报告摘要:
With the tremendous advances in digital technologies over the last two decades, the ways in which scientific advances are communicated has changed dramatically. In this continually changing landscape, publishers are working continually to meet the growing needs of the scientific community in terms of new publishing formats, tools and services. The very same advances are changing the way that science is conducted and revolutionising how scientists approach their research, form collaborations and communicate their results. In this presentation, we review the changing face of publishing, from its origins in traditional print publishing to the future as a provider of services and solutions and what that will mean for users. We look at the common cross-disciplinary themes present in modern scientific research; finishing with a review of Chinese research, with a focus on chemistry in particular, framed within the global perspective.
